Keep Austin MAD!

Keep Austin MAD!

Posted in Franchise on August 16, 2016

Austin TX is a market that we've kept tucked away for sometime now.  There has always been very strong interest and plenty of opportunities to award a franchise here but selfishly we wanted it for ourselves.  A corporate store was the original vision.  That was until we met Jon and Joanna.  Quietly, for the past 12+ months we have been working with this dynamic pair behind the scenes to help bring this vision to ATX.  I am thrilled to announce that it is official and I more than happy to watch these two spread the MADlifestyle to this amazing market.

So guys, most people are not aware that this idea began well over a year ago when I met you both at MADabolic Raleigh.  Can you believe it has been that long?  I think another thing worth mentioning is that you both specifically moved to Austin to bring this vision to life.  For 12+ months you’ve thrust yourselves into this vibrant community building many strong relationships along the way.  How excited are you to see this come to fruition?  And tell us, why ATX?

Jon
Why Austin?! You mean besides being the home of Tito’s Vodka, Yeti Coolers, Breakfast Tacos, and Matthew McConaughey?! Well, for those who have been lucky enough to have visited Austin, you know exactly “why Austin.” For those who haven’t come YET, it’s a city that’s infused with a sense of healthy living, entrepreneurship, and the upmost support for local business. It truly is a vibrant community that pairs perfectly with the MADabolic Inc. brand and Joanna and myself personally.

12 months?! Really I hardly even noticed! Jk. But yes, there’s been well over a year’s worth of battling “behind-the-scenes” in order to bring this dream into fruition. In fact, our hunt for the location with the right fit for the MADness began in March of 2015. Essentially we “dated” cities across the country and once we delved into Austin, TX, it was an immediate lock. We moved from Raleigh, NC to Austin a few months later and immersed ourselves in the fitness community. After attending nearly all the other studios in town, we were thrilled to learn that the hunger for the MADabolic Inc. product is very real down here. It’s been a VERY long road, but we’re firm believers that it was well worth the wait.

Brandon
We all know that I personally love Austin.  IN FACT, I’ve been known to say Austin TX is my favorite city in North America.  IN FACT, I am very much Iooking forward to my 3rd Austin City Limit’s appearance later next month.  What is it about this city that seems to bleed swagger and innovation?

Jon
It’s safe to say we all share the same sentiments about Austin being an absolute favorite city. There’s an ingrained, gritty “Austin pride” in all who live here that resonates throughout the community. Austinites are akin to the grind and are proud of it!   We’re beyond excited to tap into this community.

Brandon
Growing up athletic, please share with us your background and specifically why the MADabolic Inc. program has resonated with you?

Jon
Athletics have played a tremendous role in developing who I am as a person. Even from a young age I understood the importance of one’s training program and its effect on the playing field. This focus on my training enabled me to fulfil my dreams of playing basketball in college and professionally in Europe. Following my basketball career, I stumbled upon beach volleyball and immediately fell in love with the sport. My training programs changed to match the sport and I eventually made it on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball tour where I had the pleasure of facing off against some the world’s best players, including Olympic Gold Medalists Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers.

I first learned of the MADabolic Inc. program through MADabolic Raleigh and was immediately convinced that this was IT. This program is exactly how we, as professional athletes, train: with a purpose, with effectiveness, and above all with a paramount focus on technique and safety.

Joanna
Also, MAD gave me the opportunity to focus on building strength. As a female, it’s a great way for me to get stronger (and lose fat percentage as a result! Say what?!) through safe weight progression that's easy to track workout to workout. As a team-sport athlete I also really dig the feeling of pushing through each workout together, almost as a team.

Brandon
Back to Austin and the community, is it too early to share the future site and location for MADabolic Austin?  What can you tell us about the proposed destination?

Jon
I know you’re dying to know all the details, but we’re keeping a lid on it for a short while longer. There’s some amazing things happening with the location, and we want to unveil at just the right time. Soon, my friends, very soon!

Brandon
Fair enough big Jon.  As we track comparative and complementary programs there are actually only a few markets that consistently lead the way.  Some people may not be aware of this but Austin is one of these leading markets.  Can you please talk about the fitness scene in Austin and why you believe MADabolic inc. will thrive here?

Joanna
Many Austin locals would argue that the “Austin market” is growing TOO fast. At least those that have seen the blistering changes that are happening right before our eyes. This place is a real gem that everyone who ends up living here for any period of time hopes to keep for themselves. It’s hard to live here and not love being active.

That being said, the fitness scene is thriving with all types from trail ultra-marathoners & triathletes to scullers & cyclists. MADabolic Inc. adds a total new dynamic to that already thriving scene. We are stoked to get every ATX-er out into the MADness!

Brandon
Charlotte is home to our flagship location and corporate headquarters.  We recently announced that we are scheduled to open our second Charlotte location later this year. Austin and Charlotte are very similar in terms of demographics, what are the BIG plans for the greater Austin, TX market?  Do you see the possibility of multiple locations in Austin?  And what about TX as a whole?

Joanna
Definitely. Although most people think of the downtown/S. Congress area when they think of Austin, there are some amazing locations north near Domain, Round Rock, Mueller, and Cedar Park as well as out west in the hill country that we hope to bring a studio to as soon as possible.

Jon
Not to mention, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston are some hotbeds for potential locations too. It’s safe to say we’d like to crush the Austin market first, then think about expanding outward into those markets.

Brandon
Lastly, “Keep Austin Weird” is this amazing cities personality.  The “MADlifestyle” is part of our reputation.  Can these two mantra’s cohabitate?  Or are we already speaking the same language?

Jon
Can they ever! The MADlifestyle is already strong with the Austinites. They just don’t know it yet! Keep Austin MAD!
