Raleigh, The Jamiesons are Coming to Town

Posted in Program Design & Theory on May 8, 2014

As long time friends of Brandon and Kirk, Dusty and Alex Jamieson have known about MADabolic since inception.  Privy to many conversations concerning development and design, they soon sensed that their good friends were creating “something special.” When they decided it was time to be a part of it all, it really didn’t take much convincing.

Having had the opportunity to play both, with and against Dusty, Brandon and Kirk already knew that the “work ethic that comes from being a professional hockey player was ingrained within him, “ and that he was the perfect candidate.

As a couple, you would be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn’t call Dusty and Alex  “something special” themselves.  They have that magical, magnetic quality that draws everyone into their light.  When they talk about combining work and family, and how they have always wanted to go into business together – you know it’s for real.   When they say, “if we are passionate about something, we, will stop at nothing to achieve our goals,” – you want to cheer for them. They are just that kind of couple.

As partners, they are naturals who compliment one another in every way. While both say “they love to meet new people and could talk to anyone,” it is Dusty who will tell you that his wife’s natural business sense and diverse background will have their operation running smoothly from top to bottom, and Alex who will insist that her husband was born and bred for the MADlifestyle.

Dusty began playing hockey at age three, and began to seriously train for hockey at age fourteen.  For the next fifteen years, he was either playing or training for the game he loved. Weight lifting, plyometrics, running, and interval training were all part of the off-season program that earned him four years in the OHL with Sarnia Sting and saw him drafted by the Montreal Canadians.

In fact, it was hockey that introduced Dusty and Alex to the lifestyle they are actively trying to replicate in Raleigh. While Dusty was playing in Europe, they both came to appreciate the balance of work, play and family that marked their time there. This is why they will tell you that “owning their own MADabolic franchise means so much more than just running a gym.”

To Dusty it means, “not having to travel for work and be away from [his] family so much.” To Alex it means, “creating the opportunity to raise [their] son in an environment to be proud of.” As a couple and as partners, “they could not be happier to be part of something that promotes a balanced, healthy lifestyle”.

Making Raleigh their home base fits well with their lifestyle choice. They both love its “young, hip southern vibe” and look forward to hitting the bike trails and spending time at the many local farmers markets and breweries.

So look out Raleigh, something special is coming your way.
