Liz Del Presto is a member of MADabolic Strip District in Pittsburgh, PA. For the last few years, she had enjoyed running and hopping around to various studios to relieve some stress from her demanding job, however, she was never able to find a gym that could keep her interest for long — until she found MADabolic.
Not only did MADabolic keep her interested and challenged, the knowledgeable coaches helped her to continue to workout safely through her entire pregnancy. Check out her Q&A below!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and your fitness background:

A: Fitness was never really a focus for me until a couple of years ago.  I had a demanding job and needed a way to let off some steam, so I started running, which led into joining a gym and various studios. I like having the set schedule and structure of a studio gym, but also get bored easily, so I have probably tried the majority of gyms/workouts in Pittsburgh! It’s also why I have really stuck with MADabolic as the workouts are always changing to keep it interesting.  Once I became pregnant, it was really important to me to remain as healthy and active as possible. All of the coaches were great in coming up with modifications to various movements to ensure I was able to work out as effectively and safely as possible.  Special shout out to Molly Dymond for coming up with creative ab movements to spare me from never ending dead bugs 🙂  Thanks to their support I was able to workout up until the 9-month mark!  Everyone has also been great since I have returned and am working to get back to where I was, they have made the transition easy.

Q: How long have you been a member at MADabolic?
A: I joined MADabolic as a founding member at our Pittsburgh location, so about a year now. 

Q: What drew you in to take your first class?
A: I have historically been a bit of a gym jumper.  COVID hit around the same time my other gym membership ended, so I decided to try something new once the world began opening up.  Coming from a CrossFit environment, I was pulled in by the opportunity to still lift heavier weights, while having a bit more variety in movements and workouts.  

Q: What is your favorite thing about MADabolic?
A: The variety!  The workouts are always completely different, so I like continually doing something new and testing what I am capable of.

Q: What interval is your favorite (M.A.D) and why?

A: Anaerobic – specifically the Barn Burner format.  I love the quick pushes and getting all of the movements out of the way in one cycle!

Q: And we have to ask — what is your least favorite movement? The one you love to hate, of course.

A: The rower – I was glad when pregnancy gave me an excuse to use a different machine!

Q: What’s your favorite way to stay active on your off days?

A:  I enjoy doing spin classes and going on walks with my husband, son, and dog….especially to all of the local breweries.


Q: What’s one fun fact about you that not many people know?

A: I am an adrenaline junkie and will try anything once!

Q: What advice would you give someone who is hesitant to take their first class at MADabolic?

A: The workouts are completely scalable and the coaches are always willing to adjust any moves to fit your needs.  No matter how ‘in’ or ‘out’ of shape (or pregnant!) you are, you can get a great workout to match your level.
