Peter Tremaglio has been a member at MADabolic H Street in Washington, D.C. since 2019, when he realized he needed to make a few lifestyle changes. He was having trouble sleeping and was not physically active, which hindered him from doing activities he enjoyed.
MADabolic has been an integral part of the changes he made to refocus on his health. In the last two years, he has lost over 50 pounds, but his most satisfying changes have come since the scale stopped moving. “I now feel healthier and stronger than I have since college, and I am focused on aging athletically and challenging myself in new ways.”
Check out his Q&A and transformation below as part of our new Member of the Month series.
Q: How long have you been a member at MADabolic?
A: I have been a member of MADabolic since August 2019.

Q: What drew you in to take you first class at MAD?
A: My wife had been going to MADabolic in Arlington and kept telling me how great it was. When she heard the H Street location was opening, she told me I had to give it a try.
Q: What is your favorite thing about MADabolic?
A: The staff (everyone is super friendly) and the coaches focus on your form and truly helping you improve.
Q: What interval is your favorite (M.A.D.) and why?
A: When I first started, Durability days were my favorite, and I dreaded everything else. In the last year, it’s shifted to Momentum days, I really enjoy the progression.
Q: And we have to ask — what is your least favorite movement? The one you love to hate, of course.
A: Kettlebell swings are my nemesis, especially single-arm. I just can’t seem to get the form right.
Q: What’s your favorite way to stay active on your off days?
A: I aim for five active days and two rest days. My fifth active day will usually be a 30 minute job if I don’t sneak in a 5th MAD class for the week. On my true rest days, I usually go for a walk and do some mobility exercises.
Q: What’s one fun fact about you that not many people know?
A: I enjoy biking. This summer, my sister and I completed our first century, riding from Union Market in D.C. to Dewey Beach in Delaware. We did the ride with Bike to the Beach, an amazing organiation that supports the autism and disability community. I have helped them with logistics for years, but this was the first time I felt like I had what it took to complete the 105-mile ride.

Q: What advice would you give someone who is hesitatnt to take their first class at MADabolic?
A: Don’t be scared. I put off getting back into the gym becuase I was out of shape. I remember looking around the room when I went to my first MAD workout and thinking that I was in over my head, but really the only person you are there to comepte with is yourself.
