In the world of fitness, finding a place that prioritizes strength, proper movement, and a supportive community can be transformative. For the new owners of MADabolic Stamford, Seth Blumenau and Kayla Case, this vision is not just a goal but a passionate pursuit. In a recent interview, they share their journey, their aspirations, and what drew them to the opportunity of owning their own MADabolic franchise.
Q: What originally drew you to MADabolic and what made you interested in the opportunity to own your own franchise?
A [Seth]: MADabolic was introduced to me by Kayla. When I saw that correct movement and pace management was valued over sweat and calories, I knew it was a place for me. From an operational standpoint, I crave the strength, structure, and accountability that the brand promotes. MADabolic gives you the blueprint and support to open and successfully run a business.
A [Kayla]: I kept coming back to MAD because I felt it truly prioritized strength. As a woman, there is nothing more empowering than feeling strong. I also love the structure and accountability MAD provides.
Q: Tell us about your athletic and professional backgrounds…
A [Seth]: I was a competitive athlete growing up, and took my competitiveness into the weight room — it drove me to always want to be the hardest working person in the room. I’ve been involved in youth development for four years, always emphasizing that teaching correct movement creates both short and long term efficiency. Having always worked with good teams, I know that it takes buy-in from an entire staff to collectively put out a product that you can be confident and proud of.
A [Kayla]: I was a competitive gymnast growing up. Once that ended, I found myself lost and intimidated in the weight room. I started to gain knowledge and passion for training in college through Seth. I am currently an Assistant Manager at lululemon and am passionate about business operations.
Q: What stood out to you about the Stamford opportunity? Anything in particular about the market, the existing client base, etc. that inspired you to embrace this opportunity?
A: For us, the Stamford opportunity was unique. It’s a new city, a new start, and a new challenge for us to tackle. We are glad that the previous owners have set a strong foundation for us to build on, and we are extremely grateful for their dedication to the MADabolic brand. We hope to take it to new levels in a market that we feel has massive potential.
Q: What do you think are the biggest strengths you each bring to the business? How does your experience as clients and trainers at the headquarter Charlotte market set you up to be strong owners in Stamford?
A [Seth]: I’m confident that my ability to create relationships with people will go a long way in Stamford. We want to integrate ourselves into the community, the way MADabolic Charlotte and its staff are known by many businesses and individuals. Working in Charlotte, I experienced firsthand how all of the relationships you create with clients as trainers is what keeps people loyal to the brand.
A [ Kayla]: A lot of us are like-minded, and see strength as a long term lifestyle — not a short term fix. Finding ways to ensure both parties are seen as more than trainer/client is massively important to the success of a MADabolic, and that was something we learned in the HQ market. I have been working in the service industry for over 4 years and come from a company that makes guest experience their top priority. I am excited to take what I have learned and make sure to give the clients of MAD Stamford the best experience possible.
Q: What are the biggest opportunities you see to grow the MADabolic community in Stamford and what are your top areas of focus as you come into this new role?
A: We are excited to learn about what people love in Stamford…what makes them tick. It’s important for us to know who our potential clients are, their values, and how their relationship with fitness is. We want to be the voice in Stamford for healthy and long term lifestyle changes. We vow to help those who join us age athletically, and create a sustainable relationship with fitness and nutrition, and create mindsets that last a lifetime.
As the journey unfolds for these franchise owners, their dedication to fostering a community centered on strength, support, and long-term wellness shines through. MADabolic Stamford is not just a fitness destination; it’s a place where individuals can transform their entire outlook on wellness.
