The first of four MADabolic locations coming to San Antonio, TX will open this fall, but MADabolic La Cantera General Manager Eric Cleaver has been busy behind the scenes prepping to bring the MADness to town.

“I was shell-shocked, to say the least,” Cleaver recalled of his first MADabolic class. “Many of MADabolic’s movement patterns aren’t incorporated in other group fitness classes, and that has a lot to do with the quality of training staff and the meticulous attention to clients’ movement patterns that MADabolic values. While MADabolic’s programming is scalable to all strength levels, MAD has heavier weights than you’ll see at other studios and truly embodies functional fitness and progressive overload in a way you don’t see with other concepts. I was hooked, and I knew immediately I wanted to become a leader within this concept.”

Bringing 15 years of experience as a fitness industry professional, as well as a background in customer service, sales, and management, plus time serving in the Army, Cleaver’s well rounded experience will suit him well for the many hats he will wear as General Manager of MADabolic La Cantera. Beyond teaching classes, Cleaver will be responsible for spreading the MADabolic name across San Antonio, developing partnerships with local businesses, and managing day-to-day needs of the studio and his team of trainers.

MADabolic trainers bring national certifications plus attend MADabolic Training Camp to deep-dive on the MADabolic method and how to help clients most optimally work through MAD’s distinctive intervals and movement patterns. Cleaver has a team of three trainers who will help lead classes at the new location and loves the dynamic the variety of personalities on staff will offer clients. “What we all have in common is a belief in the MADabolic system and a drive for members’ success,” shared Cleaver. “We want to make sure that everyone comes through our doors is moving well and continuing to progress.”

Cleaver shared three key assets he brings to MADabolic La Cantera as General Manager of the new location that will be critical to the success of the business and of individual clients:

1.    Welcoming Personality
“While I’m known to push clients to work hard, I also want them to enjoy their fitness journey. Strong communication skills and a welcoming personality are key to connecting the San Antonio community to who MADabolic is and the benefits of the MADlifestyle.”

2.    Lifelong-Learner with a Passion for Fitness
“I’m a lifelong-learner, whether that’s better understanding a new movement or how I can better cue a client to move safely or more efficiently. My passion for fitness really comes through in working with individuals; I’m here to help our members move safely and progressively build strength through MADabolic’s science-backed approach to functional fitness.”

3.    High Energy Team Leader
“I’m an early riser, and whether I’m coaching or working out myself, I bring the energy and get the people around me going, too. From cultivating a culture of trainers who are working collectively to further the MADlifestyle to connecting one-on-one with clients before, during, and after class, I aim to make MADabolic La Cantera a place where everyone feels welcome, appreciated, and like they’re getting the quality instruction and progressive strength gains they came for.”

“To be a strong General Manager really necessitates a broad and balanced skillset, and Eric has already done a fantastic job of balancing the many needs required of this role,” said Dimple Patel, co-owner of MADabolic La Cantera. “He has stepped up as a leader and a face of MADabolic in San Antonio, and we know that once our doors open, our members will love the energy and passion he brings to our training floor, too.”
