MADabolic Signs Lease in Downtown Durham

08.25.26

Location announced for new downtown Durham MADabolic gym

DURHAM, NC — MADabolic, the industry's leading strength and conditioning franchise, has officially signed a lease for its new Durham location, bringing its coach-led strength training system to the East Main Street corridor in the heart of downtown.

Located at 500 East Main Street, MADabolic Durham will be owned by Amber Ayscue, alongside operating partner, Justin Bailey. The studio will occupy ground-floor retail space at Maizon Durham, the new mixed-use development on East Main that will bring hundreds of new residences and structured parking directly to the site.

MADabolic Durham strengthens the brand’s presence in the Triangle alongside existing studios in downtown Raleigh and North Raleigh.

Amber trained at one of MADabolic’s legacy locations in Asheville, NC, for several years before signing on to bring the brand to Durham, and Justin has been a trainer at the Raleigh, NC, location for the last three years.

"Durham has plenty of places to work out, but very few built around structured strength training with true 1:1 coaching in a group setting and measurable progression," said Amber. "That's what pulled me in as a member years ago, and it's what I wanted to bring here. Downtown has grown so fast, and the people moving here want something with structure behind it."

“Since finding MADabolic, I’ve been a firm believer in the philosophy and goal of making anyone stronger and more athletic, no matter where they are on their fitness journey,” added Justin. “I’ve seen the success MADabolic has in helping people achieve their goals, and I’m eager to see the same success in Durham.”

"Signing a lease is one of the biggest milestones in bringing a new studio to life," said Rick Del Sontro, Chief Brand Officer of MADabolic. "Amber has been deliberate at every step of this process, and a downtown Durham address puts the brand right where its members already live and work."

The Durham studio adds to MADabolic's continued growth in its home state of North Carolina, following the brand's fourth Charlotte opening earlier this year, with additional locations coming soon to Colorado Springs, CO; Jacksonville, FL; Orlando, FL; Baltimore, MD; and Boston, MA.

Additional updates on MADabolic Durham, including founding membership opportunities and an opening date, will be announced in the coming months.
